Opportunities abound to reach out in our North community through evangelism, cross-cultural relationships and practical mercy ministries.
Ways to Get Involved
Evangelism
Befriending Unbelievers: Gospel Befriending is a focus at The North Church as we encourage one another to develop genuine friendships with unbelievers in order to show them the kind of befriending love we have received from Jesus. These friendships also provide the context in which we can share the gospel. A North Neighborhood Outreach Facebook group has formed to share ongoing ideas, prayer requests, and support. Tuesday Night Evangelism: All are welcome to participate in this ministry! Whether or not you are experienced in sharing your faith, this is a wonderful opportunity to put your faith into action with an evangelism team. During the summer, we meet Tuesdays at 6:30pm, spend time in prayer, and team up in pairs to go out into nearby neighborhoods for evangelizing, discipling, and equipping. Bless Every Home Prayer App: Download the Bless Every Home app and pray for your neighbors! See a map of the homes in your immediate area and get scriptural prompts to fuel your prayers.
All–Nations ESL Class
ESL Class: This English conversation class is designed for internationals seeking to improve their English conversation skills and build friendships with Americans. Participants in this class will have the opportunity to discuss a variety of topics in a relaxed setting and also learn about their language partner's biblical worldview. This class is held Wednesday evenings September through early May. For more information on attending or volunteering as a tutor, contact us below. Arrive Ministries: The North Church partners with Arrive Ministries to sponsor 'good neighbor' teams who seek to meet the holistic needs of refugees and to integrate them into American culture. If you are interested in serving on a team, please contact us.
Mercy & Service Ministries
Ralph Reeder Food Shelf: The North Church volunteers help by delivering food to seniors, disabled adults as well as school referrals within the Mounds View School District. Contact us for more information. Together For Good: Together For Good connects volunteers from The North Church with vulnerable children and their parents to provide Christ-centered soul-care.
Sanctity of Life
The Sanctity of Life Ministry (SOLM) helps The North Church put Scriptural convictions into action. SOLM: Supports New Life Family Services in their work ministering to women and men facing unplanned pregnancies. Our partnership includes prayer, financial support through fundraising projects, and volunteering to meet various needs. Coordinates promotion of and North's participation in the annual "March for Life" at the State Capitol.
Welcome Team Ministries
Our Welcome Team ministries serve the church-wide gatherings that occur on Sunday mornings and on special occasions. Our greeters engage all who enter the building with a gladness in God. Our ushers fold attendees into these gatherings for their joy in Christ. Our Information Booth and Visitor Reception seek to enrich the experience of newcomers with a gift and helpful responses to logistical questions. The Discover The North Church class exists to winsomely educate newcomers on the membership of our church. Likewise, our security team diligently serves the safety of all who gather. If you have an interest in joining any of these ministry opportunities, we welcome you to contact Pastor Jason Vaden.
