Our story

How we got here

Our roots go back over 150 years, through a small Minneapolis congregation, a fruitful season under one pulpit, and a campus in Mounds View that eventually became a church of its own.

A long line

1871

First Swedish Baptist Church

A congregation of Swedish immigrants forms in Minneapolis. In time, it would become Bethlehem Baptist Church.

1980

John Piper in the pulpit

Under John Piper's preaching ministry, Bethlehem became known for a vision of God's supremacy in all things for the joy of all peoples — the same vision that shapes our mission today.

2002

The North Campus launches

Bethlehem plants a North Campus, meeting first in Roseville for several years before moving to our current Mounds View location in 2005. What began as an extension of one church grew into a congregation with its own life, its own leaders, and its own neighbors to love.

2006

A third campus

A South Campus follows, and Bethlehem continues as one church in three locations for the next decade and a half.

February 1, 2023

The North Church is established

After a season of prayerful transition, the North Campus is formally established as an independent church: The North Church.

Where we are now

Today we are a family-focused, multi-generational church in Mounds View, gathering to treasure Christ together and to shine the light of his glory for the sake of our neighbors and the nations.
